What Cell Medics Repairs And Who It Suits
Cell Medics is a Calgary based business which repairs phones, tablets, computers and gaming consoles. This review is specifically about their smartphone and tablet repairs.
The corporation has one address for a retail and walk-in location ( 4600 130 Ave SE #503 ) and a different address for the head office (7326 10 St NE #230). The store at 130 Ave SE is identified as the retail location for a consumer repair.

Cell Medics BBB page lists them as having opened in 2012. It lists Ahmed Fares as the owner. The BBB rating currently is A+. It also says that Cell Medics is not BBB accredited.
Why Its Repair Credentials Matter
The repair credentials matter more than a generic claim that technicians are "certified."
Cell Medics identifies itself as a Samsung Authorized Service Centre and an Apple Independent Repair Provider. According to Apple, Independent Repair Providers may use genuine Apple parts along with Apple tools, training, service manuals, diagnostics and resources to perform eligible out-of-warranty repairs. Apple distinguishes however that unlike repairs done at Apple Authorised Service Providers, repairs by an IRP will not be covered by any Apple warranty or AppleCare plan. The repair provider may provide their own warranty though.
Samsung has a similar explanation of why you should care about authorization. Its Canadian service- centre guidelines state that authorized centers are trained and use authentic Samsung parts.
From a customer's perspective, the useful distinction is having access to proper parts, tools, diagnostics and training, not the badge alone.
Cell Medics also claims to be a Google authorized service provider. Google's current list of Pixel repair-partners in Canada features Mobile Klinik for drop-in Pixel repairs, but not Cell Medics. For this reason we consider Cell Medics' wording about Google authorization to be self-reporting and not an independently confirmed repair-partner status.

Same-Day Repairs And The Four-Step Process
Speed is a clear selling point, but the wording matters.
Cell Medics' website claims that most repairs will be completed the same day. Its general FAQ states more specifically: "Repair times vary depending on the problem and model of device. Common repairs such as screen replacements and battery replacements will typically be done the same day."
The 24 to 48 hour language under its own bullet on the repair page is referring to motherboard level repairs for consoles. Not phones or tablets. Don't use that as a catch all maximum turn around for this repair.
Typically the published process for device repair is a diagnostic consult and quote included free of charge. Once diagnosis is made, the customer receives a quote as well as timeline estimate. Customer confirmed findings, suggested repair and parts needed before authorizing repair. Repair using Authorized OEM parts or high-quality manufacturer-approved parts is then performed.
Same-day service refers to many run-of-the-mill repairs. It does not mean that Cell Medics promises to have every damaged device repaired that day.

Parts, Loaner Phones And Warranty
Parts quality is one of Cell Medics' more defensible advantages.
Its repair manual page states Its repair page says technicians use OEM or high-quality manufacturer-approved parts. When working on eligible Apple repairs, IRP status provides access to genuine Apple parts and repair resources. Samsung states that its authorized service centers use genuine Samsung parts.
Cell Medics also notes loaner-phone options can be discussed during the approval stage. That might mitigate the inconvenience of having to part with a primary phone for repairs, but the publicly available pages don't make clear if a loaner will be free, offered to every customer or subject to the security deposit mentioned in the initial blurb.
Per Company FAQ: Cell Medics' warranty covers all repairs for one year from the date of repair for defects in parts and workmanship. Physical damage, liquid damage, unauthorized repairs and cosmetic issues not related to the repair will not be covered by this warranty.
Phones that have been exposed to liquids have different expectations of repair. While Cell Medics publishes guidance on professional diagnosis and cleaning after liquid exposure, the extent of the damage will determine what, if anything, can be salvaged from the phone. Do not expect a successful outcome until you've had it looked at.
What Works And What Doesn't
What works
- Authorized repair resources: Apple IRP, Samsung Authorized Service Centre status allows access to appropriate genuine parts and repair resources to complete supported work.
- Quick turnaround on common repairs: many standard services, including most screen and battery replacements, can be done the same day.
- Diagnosed before commitment: starts with free consult, diagnostic check, quote and ETA.
- Loaner option: let customers negotiate a loaner phone if their smartphone is being retained for repair.
What doesn't
- Accessible only in Calgary is the limiting factor: Calgary itself is where the consumer repair shop houses its base of operations. Local customers aren't affected too much by this, but it doesn't really cater to someone looking strictly for a country-wide mail in repair service.
- Liquid damage is less predictable: Cell Medics can diagnose and work on liquid damaged devices. However, the outcome depends on the condition of the hardware. Keep in mind this only applies to damaged devices, not your regular screen or battery repairs.
Pricing And Value
Cell Medics doesn't have one easily accessible price list for every repair posted on their device-repair page. They start with diagnosis, then give you a repair price and time estimate before you authorize the repair.
Click here to see reviews from Cell Medics customers posted online via Google Business Profile. The rating and number of reviews there won't be duplicated as those numbers are fluid and this page already has its own score from the score.
How It Compares
A manufacturer or carrier repair route may appeal to someone who wants everything done by that brand of support. A general independent shop may appeal to someone who simply wants to go to the closest repairer.
Cell Medics makes its strongest case when you're looking for a Calgary repairer that can verify Apple and Samsung program participation, offers same-day service for many routine repairs, and processes by diagnosis first.
Final Verdict
Cell Medics gets the fundamentals of good repairs right on paper. They diagnose the problem. Explain the work they're going to do. Tell you what parts will be needed and complete common repairs quickly where the issue allows it.
It being an Apple IRP and Samsung Authorized Service Center lends credibility, while the free diagnosis upfront and loaner option lend convenience.
Geography is the big dividing line. This is a Calgary repair business first and not so much a nationwide mail-in service.
Calgary cell phone owners looking for quick local service who also want to see documented manufacturer repair experience should consider Cell Medics a convincing option to put on the shortlist.
