What You Need to Know About Boost Infinite

Dish Wireless launched its new postpaid MVNO, Boost Infinite, in March 2023. Unlike other service providers, Boost Infinite offers only one plan for its users at $25 per month with 5G access. Boost Infinite’s sister company, Boost Mobile, has existed for much longer and causes customers to wonder what the true difference between these companies are. Customers also wonder how Boost Infinite’s deal compares to other companies.

In this article, we plan to discuss Boost Infinite and how it differs from other cell phone plan providers. We’ll also cover:

  • The coverage you’ll receive with a Boost Infinite plan
  • How Boost Infinite compares to Boost Mobile
  • What their plan offers in comparison to AT&T

What is Boost Infinite?

Boost Infinite mainly provides service on the AT&T network.

Boost Infinite is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) owned by the Dish Network. As MVNOs buy service access to one of the three major networks at wholesale prices, Boost Infinite buys service from AT&T and T-Mobile. Both service providers offer 5G access through Boost Infinite, so comparing their coverage and cell phone towers in your area is necessary. Dish also provides service for Boost Infinite.

Dish also owns Boost Mobile, another MVNO that utilizes the AT&T and T-Mobile networks. Boost Mobile is a sister company to Boost Infinite, as they utilize similar marketing and business practices. However, Boost Mobile offers several different plan options. Boost Infinite only offers one plan – The Infinite Unlimited Plan

Boost Infinite also allows you to buy a phone from them as a part of your plan. However, they only offer Samsung Galaxy, Motorola, and Celero phones. They also allow you to keep your previous phone.

The Infinite Unlimited Plan

While the plan offers unlimited data, data is slowed if you use more than 30GB per month.

Boost Infinite advertises their phone plan as unlimited data for $25 per month. However, the data becomes slower after using 30GB in one billing cycle – around 512 kilobits per second (kbps), or 3G speeds. This is enough speed to use social media and email. The plan is also deprioritized, which means users will experience slower speeds during periods of heavy online traffic.

Currently, their phone plan is $25 per month, but this may change in the future. Boost Infinite also states in the fine print that those who buy the plan at $25 per month will continue paying that same price as long as their account remains active.

Pricing Breakdown

At $25 per month for 30GB of high speed data, you pay $0.83 per GB of data.

Each line added to your phone plan is an additional $25 per month, so a family plan does not save you additional money like other companies. Boost Infinite allows up to 5 lines on a single plan. However, every line has their own 30GB every month, meaning you don’t have to worry about sharing data with another person on the plan.

Plan Features

Most MVNOs offer almost exclusively prepaid plans, but Boost Infinite offers a postpaid plan.

Most MVNOs offer prepaid plans, which means you pay your phone bill before you get the data and features you paid for. However, Boost Infinite’s plan is postpaid, which means you pay at the end of the month or billing cycle.

Boost Infinite also offers a 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee, which allows you to request and receive a full refund if you aren’t satisfied with your plan.

Boost Infinite also offers several features you can include in your plan with additional fees.

Add Ons

Boost Infinite offers several Add-Ons to their phone plan, each costing an additional $5 per month.

Data Hotspot

This feature allows you to use your plan’s data as a connection point for other devices. As your phone connection becomes slower after 30GB, you can only use 30GB per month in hotspot data.

Speed Pass

The speed pass adds an additional 20GB of high speed data to your plan, giving you 50GB before deprioritization. Assuming you don’t buy any add ons, you’ll get 50GB for $30 per month – or $0.60 per GB.

If you buy a hotspot, all 50 GB can be used with the hotspot.

North America Connect

With this feature, you get unlimited talk and text across the United States,  Mexico and Canada. You also get 5GB of roaming data in Mexico and Canada, which allows you to connect to different networks outside of your primary network.

International Connect

International connect allows you to access unlimited talk to almost 50 locations via mobile and over 80 locations via landline. Boost Infinite also gives limited talk minutes to an additional 120+ countries. You also get unlimited texting to over 200 locations. See available locations and possible connections here

Add-Ons are also eligible for a full refund within the initial 30 days of purchase.

The Difference Between Boost Infinite and Boost Mobile

Both companies use the same aesthetics, but Boost Mobile offers more variety in plans.

Boost Mobile offers several different types of plans, including both limited and unlimited data allotments. You can also pay for your plan monthly or sign up for a plan where you pay upfront for multiple months of service.

Boost Mobile may offer several plan options, but Boost Infinite offers more plan Add-Ons. Boost Mobile offers one Add-On, or what they call a “Recurring Extra”: Todo Mexico Plus. This feature adds unlimited calling and texting to Mexico and Canada, texting to 200+ other countries, and 8GB of roaming data in Mexico.

Boost Mobile also offers a wider variety of phone selections, including iPhone models.

Boost Infinite’s Plan vs. Boost Mobile’s Plan

Boost Mobile offers a similar plan, except with required AutoPay.

Boost Mobile offers the same base plan to its customers – unlimited data, but 30GB of high speed data. However, you must sign up for AutoPay to get the $25 deal. According to the fine print, those who do not enroll in AutoPay have to pay $35 per month. A $35 phone bill would equal $1.16 per GB.

Both Boost Mobile and Boost Infinite are included in Quality of Service Class Identifier (QCI) Tier 9, which is the lowest tier. This means their connection prioritization is the lowest for cellular towers. Both plans are also slowed to 512 kbps, or 3G speeds, after 30GB of data.

Boost Infinite’s Plan vs. AT&T Prepaid Plan

AT&T offers a plan at the same price, but with almost half the data.

AT&T also offers a $25 plan that includes 16 GB per month, or $1.56 per GB. Unlike the Boost Infinite plan, the plan is prepaid and many of the Add-On features are included, such as a mobile hotspot, international texting, and unlimited talk, text & data across North America. Unused data also rolls over to the next month. Boost Infinite mainly uses AT&T’s cellular towers to provide service, which means both plans can provide the same coverage. Both plans are also on the QCI 9 tier, meaning they are prioritized the same by AT&T. However, the AT&T plan is slowed down to 128kbps, or 2G speeds, which is much slower than Boost Infinite’s 512 kbps. It allows you to use messenger apps, send emails, and browse websites.

The AT&T prepaid plan also requires you to pay in advance online for the entire year, totaling $300. AT&T also offers a wider variety of phone selections, including iPhone models and Google Pixel models
